It is considered as an isolated language and is spoken by 6,000 people in Peru, approx. 14,000 in Brazil and 5,000 in Colombia. The area where Ticuna is spoken is the north-eastern Amazon River region , from Chimbote in Peru to San Antonio do Iça in Brazil.
